Performance Scheduling

We build an athlete’s training / competition, recovery and travel schedules around their natural body timings (Chronotype).

Discover what your unique Chronotype is and how you can use it to train at different times of the day - optimising your performance levels.

Learn about the power of circadian rhythms and how light can be used to enable every athlete to peak their performance and maximise recovery.

What are Chronotypes?

Within each and every one of us we have our own set of daily rhythms which govern a range of bodily functions such as our metabolism, our temperature and our alertness levels. These rhythms are controlled by the light and dark cycle of each day, and the most common behaviour we exhibit are our sleep and wakefulness times.

In fact, we each have our own unique personal timer of these rhythms - which is specific to us – and this personal timer is known as our Chronotype.

A person’s Chronotype is our personal disposition to when we are most active during the day and means that throughout the day, our ability to perform certain physical and mental tasks and skills changes as different hormones and alertness levels increase and subside within our bodies.

This means that every individual has their own ideal times of when they should eatsleep, work and exercise.

Chorotypes are commonly known as being either a morning person or an evening person, which we know as being a Morning Lark or Evening Owl.

However, in the same way we are all different heights, we each have our own unique Chronotype and so we each sit along a spectrum of 5 different Chronotypes:

These are typically known as being an Early Lark, a Lark, a Hummingbird, an Owl, and a Late Owl.

At Elite Sleep, we scientifically test for an individual’s unique Chronotype and offer a comprehensive schedule for the ideal times a person can perform and recover each day.
